The Titan Goddess Rhea was the daughter of Gaia and was seen as Mother of the Gods. She protected and rescued her six Olympian God children from their father, Cronus, and this is why she lends her name to this design.
On a visit to the Nile, I was captivated by the story of the Eye of Horus, a powerful protective symbol still widely used throughout Egypt today. Egyptians would paint the symbol on boats to ensure safe passage, carry eye-shaped amulets for protection or wear them to promote good health. This made me think of a mother’s eye, much like Rhea’s, keeping her children safe from harm.
On my return, I continued to be inspired by the idea of the protective ‘eye’ and sourced some beautiful Tigers Eye to be the centrepiece of the Rhea jewellery. Tigers Eye, like the Eye of Horus, is said to be a protective stone, which brings good luck, prosperity and success to its wearer.
In this design, the Tigers Eye is surrounded by intricate wire weave in coppers, pinks and reds to complement the stone’s hues. The necklace is finished with an oxidised copper T-clasp and the bracelet has a magnetic copper clasp for ease of use. The delicate matching earrings are finished with Niobium ear wires, which are totally nickel free and hypoallergenic.
Due to the unique nature of handmade products every piece will be slightly different meaning yours will be totally exclusive to you.
I take great pride in ensuring my designs are of a very high quality and as beautiful on the reverse as the front. Many can be worn either way for a different effect.
